Say Hello / Hello PGBC !

Glad to find a freshwater angling forum close to PG !
I have fished northern lakes and reservoirs by boat and on foot.
I dont have a boat or kayak in PG (yet) and have many questions.
I'll start with the two most important ones :
1) Are there lakes in the area that are worth fishing from the bank.
2) Assuming we are in the summer doldrums now, is there any decent fishing now or is it likely preferable to wait until cooler temps ?
And replies/assistance greatly appreciated !
